Local SEO

How local SEO gets you into the Google map pack

When a search shows a map, that's local SEO. When it doesn't, that's regular organic SEO. For most Irish service businesses, the map pack is where the calls come from. These six factors decide who appears in it, and the last one, authority, is where most local businesses fall behind.

Google Business Profile

You can't appear in the map without one. We optimise categories, services, service areas, photos and posts.

Consistent NAP

Your name, address and phone number must be identical everywhere your business is listed online.

Citations

Mentions of your business on other websites, such as Golden Pages, Bing Places and Apple Business Connect.

Reviews

The businesses at the top of the map nearly always have the most genuine reviews. We help you collect more.

Proximity

Google favours businesses close to the person searching. It's the one factor you can't change directly.

Authority

Backlinks matter for the map pack just as much as for organic results. High DR placements lift both.

Getting around proximity: your map listing will always be strongest near your base. To win customers further away, we build location pages that rank in the organic results for those towns, so you're found across your whole service area, not just around your address.

Relevance and Authority

SEO comes down to two things: relevance and authority

Strip away the jargon and Google is asking two questions about every website. Is this page about what the person searched for? And can this site be trusted more than the others? Get both right and you rank. Miss either one and you don't.

Question one

Relevance: are you the right answer?

Relevance comes from your own website. Your service pages, location pages, titles, headings and content all tell Google what you do and where you do it. If you don't have a page for "SEO in Cork" or "roof repairs in Limerick", Google has nothing to rank for that search.

How we build relevance
Question two

Authority: are you the best answer?

Authority comes from other websites. When established, high DR websites link to you, they vouch for you. Once several businesses have relevant pages, authority is what decides who ranks first, second and on page two.

How we build authority

Relevance gets you into the race. Authority decides who wins it.

This is where most SEO goes wrong. Businesses pay for blog posts and title tag tweaks, rankings creep up to page two, then stall. The pages are relevant but the site has no authority, so Google keeps the stronger competitors ahead. Our local SEO fixes both sides from day one.

Relevance

Telling Google exactly what you do and where

Relevance is on-page SEO. It's everything on your own website that matches your pages to the searches your customers make. Google can only rank a page for a search if that page is clearly about it.

We start by finding the exact searches your customers use, service by service and town by town. Then we make sure there's a strong, dedicated page for each one, optimised so Google understands it at a glance.

If your current website can't support that structure, we'll rebuild it properly with our web design service.

Keyword research
The searches your customers actually type, with real Irish search volumes, mapped to the pages that should rank for them.
Service pages
One focused page per service, instead of one page trying to rank for everything and ranking for nothing.
Location pages
Genuine, useful pages for each town and county you cover, written for that area, not copy-and-paste templates.
On-page optimisation
Title tags, H1s, headings, copy, image alt text and meta descriptions aligned to each target keyword.
Internal linking
Connecting related pages so Google understands your site structure and authority flows to the pages that matter.
Technical SEO
Site speed, mobile usability, indexing, crawl errors and schema markup fixed so nothing holds your pages back.
Authority

High DR placements that move your rankings

Once your pages are relevant, authority decides the order. Google measures it largely through backlinks: every time another website links to yours, it counts as a vote of confidence. The stronger the website linking to you, the more that vote is worth.

That's why we focus on high DR placements: links from established websites with a strong Domain Rating, placed on content relevant to your industry or your area. A handful of the right links does more than hundreds of weak ones.

High DR placements

Links from established, high Domain Rating websites, secured every month and pointed at the pages you need to rank.

Irish .ie websites

Placements on Irish websites that signal to Google you're a genuine Irish business serving Irish customers.

Relevant content

Every link sits inside content related to your industry or area, so it passes relevance as well as authority.

Natural anchor text

A healthy mix of brand, page and keyword anchors, built at a steady pace, so your link profile grows the way Google expects.

Citations and NAP

Your business name, address and phone number listed consistently on the directories and platforms Google checks.

Monthly link reports

Every placement listed in your monthly report with its DR, so you can see exactly what's been built.

FAQs

Local SEO: your questions answered

  • Most businesses see rankings move within 3 months and consistent organic leads within 4 to 6 months. It depends on how competitive your industry and area are, and how much authority your competitors already have.

  • It's a link to your website from another website with a high Domain Rating (DR), a 0 to 100 score from Ahrefs that measures a site's backlink strength. Links from high DR websites pass more authority to your site, which helps your pages rank above competitors.

  • On-page optimisation makes your pages relevant, which gets you into contention. But when several businesses all have relevant pages, Google uses authority to decide the order, and authority comes mainly from backlinks. Without them, well-optimised sites usually stall on page two.

  • If a search shows a map with businesses on it, that's local SEO, driven by your Google Business Profile, reviews, citations and proximity. Regular organic SEO is the list of websites below the map. Most Irish service businesses need both, and our SEO services cover both.

  • It depends on how competitive your industry is and how many services and locations you want to rank for. We give you a fixed monthly price after your free audit, so you know exactly what you're paying for.

  • No honest SEO company can guarantee a specific position, because Google controls the rankings. What we can show you is a clear plan, the work done every month and the results it's producing, all in your monthly report.

  • Not always. If your site is fast, mobile-friendly and easy to add pages to, we'll work with it. If it's slow or built on a platform that limits SEO, we'll recommend a rebuild through our web design service.
